Privacy Policy

Last updated 7/2/06

Your privacy is important to us. Guam Surveys has created this Privacy Policy to let you know what information we collect when you visit our www.guamsurveys.com site, why we collect it and how it is used.

What is Guam Surveys?
Guam Surveys is a service that assists organizations in the creation and deployment of research products — surveys, polls and other devices — to communicate with and get specific information from it’s clients, customers, employees, and others. We also feature a number of free public surveys and polls on our site, which are offered to users for their entertainment only.

What information do we collect?
GUAM SURVEYS COLLECTS NO FINANCIAL OR ANY OTHER SENSITIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION AT ALL. When a survey respondent uses the Guam Surveys site to fill out a survey, our servers (which are hosted by a third-party service provider) may collect information indirectly and automatically through the use of "cookies" or your "IP address" about your activities while on the site. This information does not personally identify you in any way, and it is only used for internal purposes to help us understand how you are using the site and how we can improve it, or to help in our systems administration. We also collect the results from public surveys that you have participated in.

Cookies and IP Addresses
Cookies are small pieces of information stored on a survey respondent’s hard drive, that allow us to better understand how survey respondents use the site. This, in turn, helps us to make improvements to the site. There are different types of cookies: session cookies, which expire when the browser window is closed; and persistent or continuing cookies, to keep track of which survey(s) a respondent has answered. Guam Surveys also utilizes cookies on our site to analyze the site’s performance. You are always free to decline cookies if your browser permits, but doing so may cause the survey site to operate improperly. An IP (“Internet Protocol”) address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when it is used on the Internet. In some cases the computer’s IP address stays the same from browser session to browser session, and in other cases the number changes. Guam Surveys automatically receives and records information from your browser, including your IP address, cookie information and the pages you visit on our site. This information helps us to make the site better.

Why do we collect your name and e-mail address?
Guam Surveys also collects the name and primary e-mail address from users who wish to learn more about our services and site. This is for the sole purpose of allowing us to develop information regarding the effectiveness of the design of the site, as well as to offer additional information of interest to people who may want to stay up to date with surveys, how they work, and the benefits of using them to collect information. This also permits us to send notices and updates to the user concerning the services and the site. These names and e-mail addresses will not be given to any third party outside of our company for any reason.

Security
Guam Surveys stores its information in databases protected by passwords as well as database and network firewalls to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of personal information. Unfortunately, even with the use of modern technology, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and we cannot absolutely guarantee its security. Guam Surveys uses industry-standard security measures to protect these names and e-mail addresses. However, no company, including Guam Surveys, can fully eliminate the security risks associated with such information.

When would we disclose information?
We may disclose personally identifiable information or other information if required to do so by law or in the honest belief that such action is necessary to: (1) conform to existing laws or comply with legal process served on Guam Surveys; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of Guam Surveys; or (3) to protect the users of Guam Surveys, its web sites or the public. If the Guam Surveys service should ever be sold or if its parent entity should be sold or merge with another company or entity, the information collected on this site may pass to the new owners. Another reason to disclose information is if we believe that any user has breached the Terms of Use for this site, especially our provisions against transmitting and/or publishing obscene, offensive, threatening, harassing, libelous, slanderous, pornographic, hate-oriented, harmful, defamatory, racist, illegal or otherwise objectionable materials or content. In such a case we will report such conduct to the appropriate authorities and turn over any and all information, including personally identifiable information, to appropriate law enforcement persons or entities.

Does Guam Surveys do anything with public survey responses?
No, and in most cases these DO NOT request your name or any other information. If your name is not requested, then you should not provide it unless you are requesting that we contact you directly in regard to a particular survey or in case you have a question regarding our service. The results of these public surveys may be used in future issues of Directions magazine, or to help us improve our magazine, training, and survey products.

Transfer of information
The information collected on this site may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Guam Surveys or its third-party agents or vendors, acting on behalf of Guam Surveys, maintain computer servers or other facilities. By using this site, you consent to the transfer of information outside of your municipality and/or country.

Linking to and use of other Web sites
Please be aware that if you choose to link to other Web sites from the Guam Surveys site, it is possible that those other sites may collect information about you. What information they collect or the methods employed for that purpose may be different from that of Guam Surveys, and therefore are not covered by this Privacy Policy.

Changes to our Privacy Policy
You acknowledge and agree that we may, at our sole discretion and with or without notice, modify or terminate our service and/or this site. Further, we may modify this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of any changes we make by placing a clear notice on the front page of our site and on any other pages deemed appropriate. When you see such notice, we encourage you to re-read this document to learn of any changes that have been made. If you do not accept those changes, you must terminate your use of the site at that time. Your use of the site or the services after the notice is posted shall be deemed to be acceptance of the modification or termination of the services or this Privacy Policy.
